Frequently Asked Questions

I get a few questions. Here are some answers...

How long is each lesson?

Lessons are scheduled to run for 45 minutes.

Does the student have to be on a computer?

Lessons can be done on computer, pad, or phone. It is best on the computer to make it easier to follow.

How many times per week should you meet?

Ideally the child should have two lessons per week. More than four lessons per week is not recommended but is possible.

What if there is a problem with the internet?

If lessons are disrupted by poor internet, lessons would be rescheduled to a mutually acceptable time.

What if you miss a lesson?

In the extremely unlikely event of the tutor missing the lesson, the lesson will be rescheduled and an additional lesson would be given for free.
If a student fails to show up, it is possible that they may have to forfeit the lesson, however, sometimes there may be extenuating circumstances, and lessons will be rescheduled.

What subjects do you teach?

Lessons can cover a mix of subjects or simply focus on one particular subject. Math, all aspects of English, science, motivation, organizational skills and building confidence are the usual subjects.

Can I cancel at any time?

You may cancel at any time. You may put your lessons on hold for a limited time.

What if I want to change the time?

Changing time is not an issue. It is preferred that you give at least 24 hours notice.

Do you take high school students?

Most definitely. High school students would benefit from 1:1 individual attention as much as anyone.

How long will you wait if we are late?

The tutor will wait 10 minutes past the scheduled start time, however the lesson will still end at the scheduled finish time.

How do I pay?

Payments can be made by bank transfer. Lessons are paid for in advance.

Is there a free lesson?

There isn’t a free lesson but the first consultation meeting with the student prior to paying is free. That consultation will basically be "a getting to know you" time.
